Liam Deane began his Apprenticeship in April 2012 at P & P Engineering Ltd, a specialist stainless steel company based in Stroud. Liam is an Engineer apprentice and carries out general machining and fitting tasks.

Liam heard about The South West Apprenticeship Company (SWAC)through his Host company who told Liam to apply to SWAC.  Liam decided that he would like to work at P & P Engineering Ltd as he found the staff all very friendly and the work they carry out interesting.

Liam is currently studying towards his City and Guilds Level 2 in Engineering and also a Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations at Gloucestershire College.  Liam is enjoying his course very much and is doing very well in it.

When asked to describe his workplace Liam says:

“I am enjoying and getting on well at the workplace.  I like learning new jobs and I am getting on really well with every at P & P Engineering.  I have found that my Learner Account Manager, Ione, is very helpful as is my supervisor Ian”.

Liam would recommend an Apprenticeship to others as “it’s a great way to gain experience in your chosen field and also gain a qualification at the end of it”.

In the future Liam would like to become fully qualified engineer and become a full time member of P & P Engineer Ltd. Liam is really looking forward to starting his career and learning new aspects of his job!
