Ella Lungu completing a Housekeeping Level 2 Apprenticeship

Ella Lungu is a Housekeeping apprentice at a prestigious 4 star Hotel based in Swindon. Ella works within the housekeeping department which includes many different responsibilities including allocating rooms to guests and ensuring guests time at the hotel is a satisfying one.

Ella heard about SWAC through the National Apprenticeship Service website.  She applied for another position in Swindon and was interviewed by a SWAC Learner Account Manager. SWAC’s flexibility allowed Ella’s CV to be sent to a number of different positions in the Swindon area.

After an interview with the potential Host at one of these vacancies Ella was offered a position which she gladly accepted.

Ella feels that the Apprenticeship was ideal for her as it offered the opportunity of career progression.  Ella has gained many positives from her Apprenticeship “I get treated as a member of staff and I benefit from staff discounts (free gym). I like it because I have been allowed to do every job in the housekeeping department and have gained a lot of experience.”

Ella is currently studying a Level 2 Housekeeping Apprenticeship with Lifetime Training.  Ella has received a lot of support from her assessor and said “They have supported and helped me move forward.”

Ella has future aspirations in her placement and has said:

“I would love to progress onto a Level 3 Apprenticeship and hopefully become a supervisor within the organisation."

Ella’s Apprenticeship has run smoothly, however, she has benefited from having a dedicated Learner Account Manager who visits her regularly at her workplace and is always there if she has any issues.  He is always there when I need his help. He has been a good support throughout my Apprenticeship.”

The South West Apprenticeship Company (SWAC) offers an opportunity to take up an Apprenticeship with a local company, earning while you learn, and with the support of a SWAC Learner Account Manager.
