Case Study

Ross Lindley is currently studying a Level 2 Warehouse & Storage Apprenticeship in Bristol

Ross Lindley is a Warehousing apprentice at Gasp Ltd, an organisation based in Bristol, who deal with general health promotion and develop a range of resources aimed at supporting healthcare and education professionals.

Ross started his Apprenticeship within the training shop, performing general warehouse duties such as picking and packing. Ross now has sole responsibility for the model making side of the business and in effect has become a departmental manager whilst in his Apprenticeship.

Ross heard about SWAC through the National Apprenticeship Service website.  He applied for a position that matched his needs perfectly. Ross found the recruitment process simple

I was contacted by SWAC’s head office; I completed a telephone interview and was booked in to meet Kirsty for a face to face interview. The interview was relaxed and informative which put me at ease

Within a couple of days Ross was invited to a Host interview with Gasp and offered the position. Ross was happy to accept as he felt Gasp would be a good place to work and felt that the placement would offer him progression and the chance for a permanent role once the Apprenticeship was complete.

Ross is currently working towards a Warehousing and Storage Level 2 Apprenticeship delivered by City of Bristol College which is going really well, Ross said “My assessor from the college has been incredibly supportive and knowledgeable about the framework and sector, he visits regularly and I have thoroughly enjoyed the assignments I have been set”

Ross is really enjoying his Apprenticeship, he has met lots of new people which has helped with his confidence and has also taught him new skills “I have been given the opportunity to contribute to model making which has allowed me to access my creative side”

Ross has benefited from having a dedicated Learner Account Manager, Kirsty who has supported him when necessary.  It’s nice to know that someone is there to support you if you need them.”

Ross highly recommends Apprenticeships “It’s been a good experience which has led to a career and not just a job! I have learnt so much whilst doing my Apprenticeship”
