Evan is currently in the middle of a Level 3 Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship at Himag Planar Magnetics in Gloucester.
Evan explained why he’s enjoying his apprenticeship “I am really enjoying my apprenticeship! It was actually a spontaneous decision to start applying for apprenticeships as I did not originally know what I wanted to do. Now I am here and have been for a few years, I really cannot imagine myself doing anything else. It has been such a great experience and the whole team have been really supportive.”
Evan will be continuing his studies with Himag Planar “When i finish my apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering I will progress onto the electrical HNC to gain more skills and experience to bring to the role.”
Evan explained how the apprenticeship is helping within his current job role “My current role involves design and development of prototype transformers for various organisations in a variety of sectors such as motor vehicle and renewable energy. Attending College has helped me to develop my skills further, specifically using Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems and I have been able to use the knowledge gained during my time at college and bring it back into my day to day work.”
Evan is keen to promote apprenticeships and SWAC to others “I would absolutely recommend an apprenticeship. My advice is to find something that you enjoy doing in your own time, such as a hobby or interest, and see if you could find a job that relates to this!”
