It can be a very scary and daunting time when you finish full time education but an apprenticeship will allow you to work full time whilst earning money and gaining a recognised qualification. Here at SWAC as an apprentice you are assigned a Learner Account Manager from day one to ensure that you always feel fully supported during your apprenticeship.

Shelley is very knowledgeable about apprenticeships and also passionate in helping you to succeed. We feel that this is very important especially during the transition from full time education in to full time work. Having someone there to help and to answer questions can make all the difference.

Shelley is there to help you from the beginning, she will complete your induction before you start with your host company and will ensure that your training provider is doing everything they need to do to keep you on track and complete your qualification. She is there to answer any questions you have about your role, from car parking to the next level of qualification you may want to complete. No question is silly or too small!

This is what Shelley has to say about her role at SWAC

“My role as a Learner Account Manager at the South West Apprenticeship Company is brilliant! I support young people into Apprenticeships and ensure that each individual gains the essential work experience, qualifications and social skills to help them progress with their chosen careers.

I guide our apprentices through initial face to face meetings, host interviews and secure them a place within an organisation/business to carry out their hands on work experience. From here I provide them with one to one support sessions in the form of regular reviews where we discuss their progression by setting targets, talking about progression routes, discussing where they fit and what they bring to their individual roles and work places. Essentially I provide them with all the help and support needed to become an integral member of the workforce.

Here is what one of our apprentices has to say about Shelley:

“Shelley has kept me on track and helped me focus. She has helped me a lot professionally and on a personal level. She has helped me to achieve my goals, such as being put forward for City of Bristol College Apprentice of the Year award this made a real difference to my confidence.

She is someone who is professional, but very easy to talk to about problems and issues. She does not judge, or tell me what to do. Whenever i have had a problem i felt that she was there in the background and i knew that i could talk to her in confidence about anything.”
