This is a Painting and Decorating Apprenticeship within a Business Park with heritage buildings in Corsham, Wiltshire. We are looking for someone with some previous experience in this area.

As a Painting and Decorating Apprentice within Hartham Park, you can expect to be part of a small, hands-on team who have a number of maintenance works and projects on the go at any time that you will support. Within this role you would also be expected to help replace windows, move furniture and repair gutters alongside other team members, learning these trades from others as well as learning to become and painting and decorating specialist.

Job Role:
• Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms in the Workplace
• Preparing surfaces for painting/decorating in the workplace
• Applying Paint Systems by Brush and Roller
• Moving, Handling and Storing Resources
• Erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms
• Prepare surfaces for decoration
• Apply paint systems by brush and roller
• Apply standard papers to ceilings and walls
• Produce specialist decorative finishes
• Apply water-borne paint systems using high volume low pressure (HVLP) spray equipment
• Learning the craft by education & hands on training
• Assisting team members when required
• Maintaining a clean and tidy work space
• Ensuring tools and materials are kept and maintained

Other Support Tasks:
• Maintenance emergencies
• Helpdesk tasks
• Planned and preventative maintenance
• Small works and projects
• You will work alongside very experienced personnel, learning across trades in carpentry and joinery, plastering, painting, tiling, plumbing, drainage and maintenance.
• The main focus of your work will of your work will relate to painting and decorating to a high standard.

Health and Safety:
Health and Safety is an important element of this apprenticeship and the course itself will cover:
• Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
• Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
• Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
• Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others
• Knowledge of construction technology
• You will be encouraged to work in a safe and organised working environment where you will be taught how to handle, maintain and store a variety of tools required for the trades

You will work alongside very experienced personnel, with plenty of on the job training. The main focus of your work will relate to painting and decorating to a high standard. However, this is a small team and you will also help the team with other Maintenance roles when needed.

This is a varied and practical role and require you to work well with a team and have a methodical and practical approach to your work. You will be required to work in a professional, efficient and timely manner to ensure facilities and standards are maintained.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in an historic listed building and gain a broad range of trade experience. There is also the prospect of additional training sessions to support your on-going development and progression.

Qualifications Required:
5 GCSEs grades A* to C (grades 5 to 9) including Maths and English or equivalent. Use of ICT preferred.

40 hours per week
Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm with 1 hour unpaid lunch

£7.00 per hour
