A great opportunity has arisen within Accord Healthcare Ltd, Barnstaple for a Quality Technician Apprentice to join their team. The successful candidate will be offered training & study support.

Purpose of the Role:
The apprentice position (NVQ Diploma in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities (QCF) Industrial Science) supports a broad scope of technical tasks within the quality team.

  • The skills acquired through the position will provide the individual with training in:
    Scientific and technical testing operations
  • Performing investigations and technical report writing skills
  • Understanding of site systems and procedures

The following activities will be performed thereby ensuring Product Quality, GMP and patient safety is maintained to an appropriate standard for the products supplied to the market and regulatory compliance commitments are met;

Quality Technician Quality Assurance

  • Conducting the review of all batch manufacturing and batch packaging records, including relevant packaging components samples prior to product release, therefore ensuring all batches are manufactured according to the Marketing Authorisation and GMP
  • To highlight any potential quality issues to the Qualified Person prior to product release to ensure all issues are resolved prior to release
  • To identify documentation errors and/or discrepancies to ensure resolution of such prior to product release
  • To ensure critical GMP documents are completed accurately, and subsequently logged onto the appropriate database, eg QMNs, DCRs, to ensure document management is maintained
  • To support the timely close out of deviations and follow up on corrective and preventative actions as appropriate to ensure market demands are met and timely release of batches
  • Provide support during self-inspections in order to meet the company compliance expectations
  • Support cross functional investigations/projects as required in order to support their closure and not delay release of product to market
  • To perform other duties to support the QA Systems teams and/or the QA Documentation/Training team as appropriate
  • Support and maintain Environmental Health and Safety requirements of the business

Quality Technician Quality Control

  • To comply with the requirements of the departmental training SOP so to fully understand the department Functions
  • To ensure that samples are tested in accordance with supplied procedures and specifications using a range of automated and wet chemistry techniques such as UV, IR, and HPLC
  • To ensure that supplied procedures are followed accurately
  • To ensure that all results and observations are accurately recorded
  • To bring to the attention of the appropriate laboratory personnel all instances of non-compliance with specifications and equipment
  • To assist other members of the department as necessary
  • Participate fully in cross functional training
  • To conduct all duties in compliance with the relevant statutes and in particular to observe the principles of GCLP
  • To be aware of and follow Health and Safety requirements as detailed by the Health and Safety at Work Act
  • To undertake any reasonable tasks as directed by the laboratory management

Qualification:
The apprentice position is linked to a NVQ Diploma in Laboratory and associated Technical activities (QCF) Industrial Science. This supports a broad scope of technical tasks within the Quality Control team.

Qualifications required:
Essential:
5 GCSEs grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) in Maths, English and a science related discipline or relevant qualification preferably in Chemistry, Analytical Science, Pharmaceutical Science or a related field or equivalent.

Desirable:
A level in chemistry or science related discipline

35.5 hours per week

Yr.1 QA – will be Mon – Thurs 08:30 – 16:30 (1 x ½ hour break), Fri 08:30 – 14:00 (no Break)

Yr.2 QC – will be Mon – Thurs 08:00 – 16:30 (2 x ½ hour break), Fri 08:00 – 14:00 (1 x ½ hour break)

£6.07 per hour
