A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Receptionist Administrator to work within a town centre medical practice in Gloucestershire. The surgery offers a friendly, efficient and professional service to all patients and are looking for an apprentice to work within the practice supportive administration team.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include:

  • Use of the practice system to ensure accuracy in recording and capturing relevant patient information
  • Process appointments and use the booking system
  • Answering telephones and relaying messages accurately where appropriate
  • Communication with Hospital Consultants, Appointment desks and Ambulance Headquarters as required
  • Generation of necessary administrative forms for new patient registrations, temporary residents and change of address of patients including accurate and efficient input onto computer system
  • Dealing with practice email and website correspondence
  • Hospital referral forms including physio, x-ray, ultrasound, blood forms, active lifestyles forms etc. as requested by the Doctor
  • Maintaining the practice filing system and processing scanned documents
  • Collection of items if required from the local hospital
  • Adhering to the opening and closing procedures of the surgery
  • Be responsible for checking tidiness of general practice area after surgeries, am and pm
  • Representing the Practice on the phone and email correspondence with patients
  • Work as part of and support the existing administration team
  • Follow data protection and confidentiality protocol and legislation
  • Providing administration support to the whole team
  • Good communication will be essential coupled with a friendly and confident approach

Strict patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times

  • Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and be able to work under pressure without direct supervision

Qualifications required:
5 GCSE’s at grade 9-4 (A*- C )to include Maths and English

35 Hours per week
various shifts between 8am – 6.30pm 5 days a week. At least 3/4 out of 5 days will be 6.30pm finish

£5.00 per hour
