We have a new opportunity for someone looking for that next step in their IT career. The successful candidate will work in the heart of the business as a Satellite Communication Technician Apprentice. The individual needs to be physically robust as there will be an element of installation work often outdoors and at height. The apprentice will need to learn and understand all elements of the role during the apprenticeship and this will be supported by the appropriate college course.

The role will include:

  • Radio Frequency fundamentals
  • Antennas and propagation
  • Electrical principles
  • Networking principles
  • Networking infrastructure
  • Satellite communications fundamentals
  • Coaxial cable termination and testing
  • Use of test equipment
  • SATCOM COTS installations

Duties will include:

  • Being the first point of contact for any external customers or clients
  • Providing technical support and activation for clients
  • Troubleshooting based on client queries
  • Developing business knowledge and understanding the software used
  • Explaining use of systems to clients and responding to enquiries in a fast an efficient manner.

Candidates will:

  • Be computer literate to a high standard
  • Have a genuine passion for IT and software
  • Be organised and responsive, using initiative and motivation to deal with enquiries
  • Be strong communicators, both internally and externally
  • Be reliable and enthusiastic when approaching all tasks

Qualifications required:
5 GCSEs grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) or equivalent including maths, English and a technology subject
2 A Levels Grade C or above – one must be in a STEM subject. An IT apprenticeship at Level 3 (ideally Infrastructure Technician or similar) or other relevant qualifications/experience would be an advantage.

37.5 hours per week
Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with ½ hour unpaid lunch

£5.25 per hour
