Here at SWAC we are delighted that one of our Apprentices Kirsty from Himag Planar has been shortlisted for the Apprentice of The Year award at the Annual South West Business and Community Awards. This is a massive acheivement to be shortlisted and we will be very excited to attend the event in the new year, Congratulations Kirsty!

Thursday 24th January will see the return of the annual South West Business and Community Awards ceremony, which will celebrate the region’s most ambitious, inspirational and exciting businesses, charities and individuals.
The stars of the ceremony will undoubtedly be the Awards winners.
Among the current nominations are entrepreneurs who had innovated unique solutions to the problems they faced, put their heart and soul into making their industry better, overcome personal and professional hardship to triumph in business, and more.
This year, the standard of entrants is already very high that we are might exceed last year’s shortlisted record of 88 for the awards across the award categories. While we cannot give all nominees an award, each winner is truly deserving of recognition for their achievements.
The South West Business and Community Awards judging process will see a range of esteemed entrepreneurs come together to scrutinise our finalists and select the short-listed nominees from the nominations and the winners among them.
James Phipps, Chairman of Excalibur is again part of the judging panel and said: “Judging this year’s awards will be tough. Every entry is of a very high standard and each one is unique which makes the decision harder. I’m very proud of the quality of businesses that we have in this region and these awards give them the true recognition that they deserve.”

Nominees will gather in The Double Tree Hilton, at Swindon, on Thursday January 24th to hear the winners in 13 categories – and one being hailed Outstanding Business of the Year.

Locally based UK’s top 10 business advisor and entrepreneur’s Godmother Alison Edgar is the host. Alison is mentor to some of the UK’s biggest entrepreneur’s (she has some very famous clients). Alison is regularly featured in The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, The Mail on Sunday and the Guardian.

Celebrity keynote speaker Monty Halls, who will deliver the inspiration and motivation on the night through their keynote speech.
South West based TV Celebrity Monty Halls will be inspiring the nominees by delivering a highly motivational keynote at the awards gala. Monty has been featured on BBC, ITV, Channel 4 & 5, History & Discovery Channel. Monty is a former Royal Marine Officer who has worked with Nelson Mandela and travelled the world.

He is best known for his three BBC2 series ‘Great Escapes’, where he lived on the west coast of Scotland and Ireland with his dog Reuben. He also presented the multi-award winning series ‘Great Barrier Reef’. In 2014 he has completed filming on the ground-breaking expedition series ‘Lost Worlds’ for the Discovery Channel.

Tiny Tina Turner and her six piece band will provide the entertainment. She has worked on some big shows, and with some of the biggest names. Tiny Tina Turner is one of
Europe’s best Tina Turner impersonators. She has the voice and the mannerisms which really do reproduce the stage charisma of Tina. Nominees can expect to be entertained by Miri and her high energy six piece band playing all the popular Tina Turner songs, as well as a few other favourites along the way! Capture the simply the best moment as Miri and her band delivers a pulsating show, emulating the sounds of the greatest ever female Rock.
