One of our newest apprentices Eliza who started working with her host employer Collecteco in March has sent us some of her thoughts and ideas after finding herself suddenly working from home. As well as keeping in contact on a regular basis with her employer and ourselves Eliza has found some other ways to keep up her positive outlook…
We were really excited to hear what Eliza has been doing as it is great to see how our apprentices are showing real resilience and professionalism in such unusual circumstances..
“Spending quality time outside is probably one of the most mindful things that you can do.
So what can you do when you can’t really do that at the moment?
Before this week, I hadn’t rode a bike since I was eleven years old.
A daily walk wasn’t quite doing it for me, given that I’m used to walking a lot anyway; so I needed to find an outdoor activity in which satisfaction could be achieved whilst following government guidelines.
I had wanted to learn how to ride a bike again for a while now, and I thought that this would be the perfect time! Everyday I look forward to going on a bike ride, and I’ve set myself goals which keeps me motivated on my more sluggish days.
We have to take care of ourselves during this difficult time: mentally, physically (and of course hygienically).
For me, riding a bike is one of the ways that I’m taking care of myself whilst working from home during a pandemic lockdown.
Anybody not feeling motivated – I would say try a lot of different things until you find the right one, or use this as an opportunity to achieve something that’s been on your mind for a while.
It’s our chance to seize the day, but just in a different way than usual!”
We also like the following quote from Eliza who wanted to make it clear that this is not her normal work attire! Just to say we think the photos are fabulous! Thank you Eliza and keep up the fantastic positive vibes in these strange times!
“These photos are inaccurate representations of how I present myself in the workplace, don’t worry!”
