We have an excellent opportunity for an apprentice to be supported and trained to become a Teaching Assistant. You will be supported by your line management and the wider school team to learn a variety of new skills to help you achieve your qualification.

The School works in partnership with priests, parishioners and families, to establish a community of love, peace and harmony between all in a climate of mutual trust and openness.

They are looking for a Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant Apprentice to work with their teaching team and study towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship.

  • Key Stage 2 (KS2): Covers school years 3, 4, 5, and 6
  • Ages: Children in KS2 are typically between 7 and 11 years old
  • Year Groups: KS2 includes Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, and Year 6
  • Assessment: At the end of Year 6, students take the KS2 SATs, which assess their skills in English (reading, grammar, punctuation, and spelling) and Maths

Duties will include:

  • Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the school and promote diversity, inclusion, equality and acceptance of all learners in line with school policies, including by challenging stereotyped views, bullying or harassment
  • Implement safeguarding polices and safe practice, including online safety, in line with legislation, policies, and procedures including maintaining confidentiality
  • Work in partnership and liaise with other professionals (such as the teaching staff, SENDCo, or external advisors) and parents/carers to support all learners’ learning
  • Reflect on your own practice and identify appropriate professional development opportunities with the support of colleagues
  • Understand the specific needs of learners and use strategies to support all learners to achieve their learning goals
  • Promote engagement and teach learning behaviours to support the development of independent learners
  • Establish positive relationships with learners and promote positive behaviours, consistently applying the school’s behaviour policy
  • Support the social, emotional, mental health, wellbeing and personal care of all learners in line with organisational policy and procedures
  • Deliver individual and small group teaching within clearly defined/planned parameters in partnership with the teacher and other professionals
  • Contribute to assessment and planning by supporting the monitoring, recording, and reporting of learner outcomes and participation as agreed with the teacher
  • Support the development of a stimulating and safe learning environment by contributing to the selection and preparation of teaching resources that meet the diverse needs and interests of learners
  • Support or lead enrichment activities for example visits, out of school activities and in school clubs

Qualifications Required:
GCSE grades 4 to 9 (A* to C) or equivalent in English and Maths

30 hours per week during school term time only.

Hours will be spread between Monday to Friday inclusive (actual hours to be agreed by St Brigid's Catholic Primary School).
There will be no hours worked during school holidays.

£7.55 per hour paid Pro Rata

General Overview:

Apprentice Responsibilities:
As an Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprentice, you'll become a key part of the team that keeps IAAPS running smoothly. Here's what your role will include:

  • Help keep machinery and equipment in top condition to ensure smooth operation
  • Continuous Improvement: Assist with upgrading systems and processes to make things run better, including facility upgrades
  • Hands-On Learning: Be involved in project setups, changeovers and repairs
  • Maintaining safe working areas and best practice standards within the test facilities
  • Shadowing more experienced colleagues working on various projects to develop knowledge, skills, and experience
  • Rotating around different departments and sectors within IAAPS such as mechanical, electrical and machining
  • Providing an overall project support role
    > Ensuring day to day facilities tasks are taken care of.

What we are looking for:

  • The successful candidate will be able to gain experience of cutting edge automotive, aerospace and marine propulsion system research and development, supporting current activities within the facility
  • A self-starter who is confident in their approach and able to work with the IAAPS Technical team and with academic staff, project managers, our clients, external service partners and suppliers
  • A flexible approach to work, with the ability to seek out opportunities to engage in learning, and meaningful development
  • Ability to work collaboratively to develop solutions to technical challenges; willing to contribute to sharing ideas, engaging others in discussions and problem solving

Qualification Required:

£17,000 annual salary
£8.72 per hour

The Role:
To support the Maintenance Engineering team to provide a comprehensive, multi-skilled engineering service covering the installation, commissioning, maintenance and modification of our plant equipment and services used in the manufacture, packaging, and distribution of our pharmaceutical products.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Support maintenance and problem-solving activities across a wide variety of electro / mechanical production equipment and site service systems and equipment according to team and individual plans
  • Learn to analyse, develop, and implement cost effective solutions to improve machine efficiency, reliability, and performance
  • Gain experience to coordinate and deliver planned maintenance, offering flexibility in working hours according to business needs
  • Ensure EHS, GMP and process / validation compliance via risk assessment, PUWER, LTV and manual handling adherence
  • Ensure effective communication and customer service is delivered between all levels and shifts within your direct team and other departments, as required
  • Gain knowledge and experience of planned and reactive maintenance schedules and constantly review and modify these to ensure accuracy, considering any manufacturer recommendations, experience, and machine history to minimise breakdowns and maximise efficiencies
  • Build confidence to liaise with contractors, engineering specialists, machine manufacturers and parts suppliers

Relevant Skills & Experience:

  • Keen to learn and apply developed skills in a responsible manner
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive, proactive, and dedicated approach to work
  • Good IT skills, with the ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, and databases and to learn new systems or programs

38 hours per week

Double Day shifts on site
Monday – Thursday
Earlies: 6am to 2pm
Lates: 2pm – 10pm

Friday
Earlies: 6am to 12pm
Lates: 12pm to 6pm

College days
8am to 4pm

Salary: £18,853.20 + merit award from August 2025
£9.54 per hour + Shift allowance

Shift pay: £5781.48 +merit award from August 2025
£22.24 per day

A shift premium will be paid when working shifts in the workplace.
