As a part of our #InspiringFutureApprentices campaign we are exploring ‘hidden jobs’ in areas that you may not have considered and we have some great real life examples through some of our current apprentices.
Some qualifications can have an old-fashioned reputation that may put you off pursuing a role within the sector and we are here to break the mould and put the excitement into something that you may have considered ‘boring’ or not considered at all.

This is the final week and we are looking at the possibilities of an IT Apprenticeship

Read below about some of our current IT apprentices and the very different roles that they have in a range of business sectors.

Jake is an IT Apprentice within a large international water technology business. Jake’s role includes things such as configuring equipment for staff, while ensuring that documentation and asset register are kept up to date, network security and helping with CCTV system.

Benedict is an ICT Apprentice at City of Bristol College. Benedict’s main responsibilities are within installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting end user workstation hardware, networked peripheral devices, networking hardware products, interactive whiteboards and LCD projectors.

Ben is an Apprentice Software Engineer at Seamap UK Ltd, a world leading engineering company who designs, manufactures and sells a broad range of proprietary products for the seismic, hydrographic and offshore industry. Callum is a Digital Marketing Apprentice at a company that specialises in the supply of cabling to a mixture of industries including government, security, communication and Ministry of Defence. Callum has duties such as creating ideas and methods for online marketing including SEO, managing social media and PR and updating website on a regular basis.

As you can see these roles are so different and again shows that although the qualifications may be the same there are some really exciting roles that you may never have known even existed before.
