As a part of our #InspiringFutureApprentices we are exploring ‘hidden jobs’ in areas that you may not have considered and we have some great real life examples through some of our current apprentices.
Some qualifications can have an old-fashioned reputation that may put you off pursuing a role within the sector and we are here to break the mould and put the excitement into something that you may have considered ‘boring’ or not considered at all.

This week we are looking at the possibilities of a Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship

Some of our Apprentices are lucky enough to have roles as Laboratory Technicians and the places that these jobs are based is probably not what you would expect and also completely different. It is quite a detailed and specific role so read more here about the type of responsibilities our Lab Tech Apprentices have…

Holly is a Laboratory Technician Apprentice at a Secondary School in Cirencester.

Holly’s main role is to prepare resources and set up scientific equipment and resources for school experiments. Holly has responsibilities including preparing equipment and practical materials prior to lessons, ensuring the safe disposal of waste as well as supporting in the care of livestock within the faculty.

Zoe is a Quality Technician Apprentice at one of the world’s leading players in the development, manufacture, and sale of first-class generic pharmaceuticals. Zoe has responsibilities in both Quality Assurance and Quality Control and on a day to day basis, and has tasks such as ensuring that samples are tested in accordance with supplied procedures and specifications using a range of automated and wet chemistry techniques, conducting the review of all batch manufacturing and batch packaging records as well as supporting the timely close out of deviations and following up on corrective and preventative actions as appropriate to ensure market demands are met and timely release of batches.

As you can see these roles are so different and again shows that although the qualifications may be the same there are some really exciting roles that you may never have known even existed before.
