Apprentice of the month is…
Sofia Russo
We are delighted to announce Sofia as SWAC’s March Apprentice of the Month.
Sofia is hosted by City of Bristol College at The Brislington Centre in Brislington. She is currently studying towards a Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 Apprenticeship which is delivered by City of Bristol College.
The Brislington Centre is offers independent living, providing a high-quality residential training environment for City of Bristol College students with additional needs.
The centre offers a structured environment where students can develop essential independent living skills alongside their full-time studies. With guidance from experienced staff the students build confidence, independence and practical life skills in a safe and supportive setting, helping them prepare for adult life beyond college.
Sofia has been taking on more of a key worker role, and she is already making great progress in this area. She has completed her first safeguarding write-up and also took part in her first parent review meeting, both of which are significant milestones in her development. Sofia is really enjoying her role and has built a positive relationship with the student she is currently supporting.
During National Apprenticeship Week, we asked Sofia what skill she has gained that she
will use for life, and her answer says everything about why she deserves this recognition.
She spoke about developing empathy, patience, confidence, respect and truly listening
to support people as individuals. These are the skills that don’t just shape great care
professionals – they shape great people.
Sofia’s Line Manager, Olga had this to say “’We are very pleased to have Sofia as an apprentice at The Brislington Centre. She has consistently demonstrated reliability and professionalism and is a highly valued member of our team. Sofia shows great patience and compassion in her work, and is both liked and respected by the students she supports”
Her Assessor, Dawn also shared “Sofia is an outstanding student she has come so far from when I first met her, she lacked confidence but since completing her level 2 and now undertaking her level 3, she has grown with confidence and is always willing to learn new skills and use her own Initiative. It’s been good to see her confidence grow”
Congratulations Sofia, keep making a difference every day🌟
